Wildfires in Sweden now
Live map of possible wildfires in Sweden, as detected by satellites over the last hours. Today's fire danger comes from the EU's Copernicus service.
The map shows areas of about 10 × 10 km where satellites measured heat that probably comes from vegetation. These are not confirmed fires, and the data is up to about 3 hours behind.
The fire season in Sweden
Grass fires peak in April and May, before the new grass comes up, and forest fires come through the summer. A normal year has about 100 forest fires, but in summer 2018 there were more than 500 after an extremely dry spring and a record-hot July.
